Teacher Activity
Pupil Response
Skill Component
Good morning. Today morning I have had a bottle of coca cola. Do you think that it was produced today morning itself? No it might be produced even two or three months before. So my question is where was this bottle all these days?
Yes it was in the safe store and we are going to discuss about that function of storing that is WAREHOUSING and its significance.
You all go to your home. There is an electrical machine in which we put vegetables, milk, eggs etc. What is that machine?
Yes, you are correct. The machine is fridge. Think my students, suppose we use all vegetables, eggs and food items immediately after we buy it, do we need a fridge? Or we eat all foods immediately after we cook it, do we need a fridge?
No. but that is not the situation. In real situation there is a time gap between the buying of vegetables and its usage and cooking of food and its usage. So we have to keep or store the vegetables or other food items in a place without loosing its freshness. For that we are using refrigerator.
Like that in business also there is time gap between what? The time of production and the time of consumption. We have to keep or store the materials or products as in the case of vegetables and food at home, in a place from the time of its production to the time of its consumption without loosing its freshness. That storing function is called warehousing. So warehousing fills the gap between the time of production and the time of consumption.
Today we have discussed the meaning of warehousing and its significance.
What is warehousing?
What is the purpose of warehousing?
Now we understand what is warehousing and its significance.
Thank you.
